Kyambogo Hill, Kampala — The State Minister for Higher Education, Hon. Dr. John C. Muyingo, officially released the May–June 2025 Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) end-of-assessment results at the National Skills Assessment Centre, Kyambogo Hill.
This release marks a significant milestone as UVTAB’s first official national assessment results, underscoring Uganda’s commitment to strengthening the quality and credibility of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Assessment Overview
The assessments were conducted between 2nd May and 27th June 2025 across 499 centres nationwide.
Of these, 306 centres (61%) served candidates from formal TVET programmes, while 193 centres (39%) catered to learners assessed for informally acquired skills.
A total of 30,619 candidates registered for the end-of-programme assessments, 17,423 females and 13,196 males. Of these, 26,610 (88%) sat for the examinations, while 3,681 (12%) were absent in one or more papers.
Key Performance Highlights
Overall, 91 percent of candidates who sat for the assessments successfully acquired full competences.
Female candidates outperformed males, with 92 percent attaining full competences compared to 89 percent among their male counterparts.
Candidates trained under informally acquired skills recorded exceptional results with a 96 percent completion rate, compared to 81 percent among those from formal TVET programmes.
The majority of candidates were assessed in Technology Education and Training (48%), followed by Home Science (29%), Business (15%), and Agriculture (8%).
Performance by Training Category
- Technology Education and Training (Diploma Level): 78% completion rate
- Agriculture Education and Training (Diploma Level): 96% completion rate
- Business Education and Training (Diploma Level): 87% completion rate
- Home Science Education and Training (Diploma Level): 92% completion rate
- Certificate-level programmes: Averaged between 56–74% completion
Special Needs Candidates
A total of 109 special needs candidates (52 females and 57 males) were registered, with 94 percent sitting for the assessments.
Of these, 85 candidates (83%) attained full competences, demonstrating strong performance particularly in tailoring, hairdressing, and jewellery making.
Commitment to Skills Development
The Executive Secretary of UVTAB, Mr. Onesmus Oyesigye, commended candidates, assessors, and training institutions for their dedication and perseverance in maintaining high standards despite resource constraints.
“The strong performance reflects the resilience and determination of Uganda’s youth and reinforces the importance of practical skills for employment creation and innovation,” Mr. Oyesigye stated.
He reaffirmed UVTAB’s commitment to producing competent, job-ready graduates who will contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s industrial growth and economic transformation.
