The department is headed by a Commissioner who is responsible for all teacher development programmes, including in-service teacher training, presently under the Education Standards Agency (ESA).

 Department of Teacher Education has two (2) Divisions namely:

  • Secondary Teacher Education.
  • Primary Teacher Education.

Each division will be headed by an Assistant Commissioner.

KEY OUTPUTS:

  • Appropriate policies, plans and guidelines in respect of teacher and tutor education.
  • Adequate and well-trained teachers and tutors.
  • Effective and efficient organization and management of teacher education institutions and    training colleges.
  • Timely advice on resource requirements for teacher and Tutor Education.
